A science graduate with first rank from one of the reputed universities in India followed by a degree of Ph.D. in Physics from Bhabha Atomic Research Centre where I happened to work for a period of eight years before joining the Indian Administrative Services. Declared as the best probationer during the two years rigorous training in the field of administration conducted by National Academy for Administration during the year 1982-84 and was awarded four Gold Medals as a mark of excellence in various disciplines.

In 1993-94 under Colombo Plan, a degree of M.Sc. in Development Studies was obtained from University of Bath, U.K. During this one year course, a good exposure was received on basic disciplines like Sociology, Economics, Political Science, International Relations and Development Administration. Secured 'A' Grade in all the examinations.
