What We Do

Saksham’sGaushala initiative is dedicated to the protection, care, and upliftment of Mother Cow (Gaumata). We believe in not just protecting the cow but providing holistic solutions that support both animal welfare and rural communities. Through our range of services and sustainable projects, we aim to create a compassionate and eco-friendly environment for cows while benefiting local farmers and communities.

Protection of Gauvansh

The sacred Gauvansh (cattle) holds a vital place in Indian culture and agriculture. At Saksham, we are dedicated to ensuring their protection and well-being by establishing safe, clean, and nurturing environments at our Gaushalas. Our protection efforts involve providing shelter, medical care, and ensuring that every cow receives the respect and care they deserve.

Gratuitous Hospital

Our Gratuitous Hospital offers free medical care to cows in distress. Whether they are injured, ill, or in need of basic healthcare, our medical team provides emergency treatment, routine check-ups, and long-term recovery support. This hospital ensures that no cow is left behind, regardless of their economic situation.

Gratuitous Dental Facility

Cows, like humans, require dental care for their well-being. Our Gratuitous Dental Facility ensures that the cows receive the necessary dental treatment to maintain healthy teeth and gums, improving their overall health and quality of life. Regular dental checkups are provided free of cost, helping prevent issues that can affect their ability to eat and digest properly.

Modern Veterinary Hospital

The Modern Veterinary Hospital at Saksham is equipped with the latest technologies to provide advanced medical treatment to cows. From surgical operations to specialized care for chronic conditions, our hospital is staffed with experienced veterinarians and support staff to ensure that the health of every cow is our top priority.

Bio Gas Plant

Saksham integrates sustainable energy solutions by installing Bio Gas Plants in our Gaushalas. These plants convert cow dung into biogas, which can be used as a renewable energy source for cooking, lighting, and other daily needs. This initiative not only helps in waste management but also promotes environmental sustainability.

Panchgavya Pharmacy

At Saksham, we use Panchgavya—a traditional herbal medicine made from five products derived from cows (milk, ghee, curd, urine, and dung)—to create natural remedies for various ailments. Our Panchgavya Pharmacy manufactures and distributes these holistic medicines to support both human health and cow welfare, staying true to ancient traditions while promoting sustainable, eco-friendly practices.

Bio Compost Plant

The Bio Compost Plant at Saksham processes organic waste, including cow dung, into high-quality compost, which can be used to enrich the soil for sustainable farming. This not only helps in organic farming practices but also reduces the dependence on chemical fertilizers, creating a more eco-conscious agricultural environment.

Not a Dairy

Saksham’s initiative Not a Dairy focuses on ethical dairy practices. We do not engage in traditional dairy farming that exploits cows for milk production. Instead, we focus on providing a compassionate and sustainable environment for cows to live out their natural lives, free from exploitation.

Grameen Pragati Foundation was honoured to participate in the recent event organized by the Maharashtra Go Seva Aayog in Mumbai, where we showcased our range of sustainable, cow-based products. This platform was a remarkable opportunity for us to highlight the importance of indigenous cow breeds, rural entrepreneurship, and eco-conscious living through value-added products derived from cow milk.

Our stall received an overwhelming response and was graced by several key dignitaries. We were privileged to host Smt. Radhika Rastogi, Home Secretary, and Dr. Ramaswamy, Agriculture Secretary, who visited our stall and took a detailed briefing on our work. Their encouragement and keen interest in our initiatives reaffirm our mission of driving grassroots impact through traditional knowledge and innovation.

We also had a meaningful interaction with Shri Shekhar Mundada, Chairman of the Maharashtra Go Seva Aayog. His insightful suggestions and guidance provided a clear direction for our future plan of action, especially in scaling up operations and expanding outreach to rural communities.

Our stall featured a curated range of dairy and wellness products crafted from cow milk and its by-products, aligning with our commitment to natural, sustainable, and community-driven development. The event provided an ideal forum to connect with stakeholders, forge new partnerships, and strengthen the collective movement for rural prosperity through cow-based economies.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the organisers for this opportunity and remain committed to building a self-reliant and sustainable Bharat — one village, one cow, one step at a time. 🙏🏼
